Swoop Aero is dedicated to transforming how the world moves. Our HQ is a space where engineers build aircraft alongside technology architects, operations managers, and marketers.
In our new team profile series, Humans of Swoop Aero, we’re introducing you to the incredible individuals who work to tackle seemingly insurmountable challenges, create a nuanced strategy, and deploy our ground-breaking technology to positively impact millions of people’s lives every day.
Flight Operations Manager Madi Jeffery joined Swoop Aero after working extensively throughout the drone industry, including supporting large brands with marketing footage and working with Google’s drone project, Wing, in Finland and Queensland.
Now, Madi uses her vast experience and expertise in the industry to lead Swoop Aero’s network expansion throughout Malawi, including onboarding new staff, engaging stakeholders and opening of over 200 sites throughout the country.
“This role allows for me to see a real difference throughout the communities that we fly to everyday,” says Madi.
“Seeing local health workers and community members come to trust and believe in the drone and the service that we provide is humbling, and a credit to both teams in Australia and Malawi.”
For Madi, a day at Swoop Aero while in Australia involves providing remote support for our operational teams abroad, helping with the planning of our new operations, and assisting our Australian based teams with R&D and manufacturing where necessary.
While working abroad, Madi assists with the hiring, training and initial management of a local team. She develops capacity and confidence within the local team to lead and manage the project without the in-person support of Swoop Aero Australian based staff.
Madi is currently based in Malawi, and is supporting the local Swoop Aero team.
“Every day presents challenges that we are able to work through with the great team we have here at Swoop Aero. Seeing the growth of our local Malawi team over the past 18 months has been inspiring, especially knowing the significant difference we are making”
