Introducing Swoop Aero Interns
There’s an age-old saying, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
In theory, this is a pretty simple philosophy to live by . . .
But, what makes this a reality is a workplace that inspires, engages, and encourages personal creativity and innovation so that people love what they do and are eager to come to work each and every day.
At Swoop Aero, we have sought to foster a community of passionate, committed, and determined people that strive to solve one of the greatest challenges – inequitable access to healthcare. Since 2018, we have forged a close working relationship with Victorian universities and educational institutions to promote and advance STEM subjects as well as offer opportunities to gain quality experience in the technology and manufacturing industries through regular internship program opportunities.
In this blog, we wanted to take the opportunity to share some experiences from our previous interns’ so as to shine a light on what it is like to work for an impact-driven organization, the types of careers that are on offer within a rapidly growing technology sector, and what a typical day at Swoop Aero looks like.

Swoop Aero is an Australian drone-powered health logistics company founded to transform the way the world moves essential supplies. We are an impact-driven organization bringing healthcare logistics into the 21st century by integrating bi-directional drone networks into the last and first miles of the health supply chain to enable the reliable provision and distribution of vaccines, routine medications, urgent pathology samples, and PPE equipment. Since the company’s founding in 2017, we have worked with some of the largest organizations in global health, including UNICEF, the Gates Foundation, UKAID, USAID, and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. Our global footprint is noted across three continents and six countries including, Vanuatu, Malawi, DR Congo, Mozambique, Scotland, and Australia and is continuing to scale up as we proactively work towards the attainment of Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Wellbeing.
By coming to work for Swoop Aero, you are working to solve a global challenge; inequality in access to healthcare. From working with NGOs to integrate medical drone logistics into areas of need to build the aircraft that carries the essential healthcare, there are so many ways to become involved in a company like Swoop Aero. We are always on the lookout for people with a diverse and varied skill set, like advanced writing, communications, engineering, software development, coding . . . the list is endless.
A typical day at Swoop Aero . . .
No two days are ever the same at Swoop Aero.
One day, you could be out in the field flying the air logistics platform to ensure it is ready to support operations in low and middle resource settings, including Malawi, DR Congo, and Mozambique . . .
The next day, you could be helping support the collection of flight data to help inform and evaluate the impact the Swoop Aero air logistics platform has had within the locales we continue to operate, including Australia, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand.
The dynamism and fast-paced nature of the company enable all team members to experience, learn and engage with other key areas of the business. At Swoop Aero, we have been proactive in ensuring all team members are well-versed in all aspects of the organization. Each week, all team members come together to share some of the key learnings and developments from the week past. This forum enables team members to ask questions, learn about another area of the business and recognize other’s success on the collective journey we all share: transforming the way the world moves essential health supplies to improve health outcomes in every community and country in which we operate.
