Introducing…Mechatronics Lead Luke Dempsey
For Luke Dempsey, working for Swoop Aero is exactly what he hoped he’d be doing when he was studying Mechatronics Engineering.
“All of the areas I am involved with in Swoop Aero are all things that I am interested in. It’s such a rare opportunity to find a place that allows me to work on all of the aspects of engineering that I am excited about.”
Luke’s daily tasks at Swoop are as varied as his interests while leading the design and execution of the aircraft flight-critical electrical systems. He can be seen creating proof of concept devices, designing and testing production hardware or writing the software that runs on them.
“My day also involves managing our team’s progress towards our fortnightly goals, planning and designing future electrical implementations, and improving the performance of our existing hardware and pushing them to the field.”
For Luke, Swoop Aero’s impact on hard-to-reach communities across the globe is inspiring. “I have been a part of Swoop since shortly after its inception. Seeing our company grow and change but constantly track towards our overarching goal of delivering a positive impact to communities who need it most is immensely satisfying,” he said.
Before joining Swoop Aero, Luke’s experience lay in the industrial automation industry, working on precision CNC grinding machines that supply to the likes of SpaceX and Volvo.
